2010 The Bootle Community Action Plan was launched to a packed Village Hall.
2011 £300,000 was secured from the Homes and Communities Agency for a much needed local affordable housing development. Victory Gardens, a 14 home, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom estate will be complete in late 2014.
2012 The young people of Bootle opened their BMX track following a successful fundraising campaign, securing £40,000 from the Big Lottery’s Community Spaces.
2013 The 12.5 acres, former MoD base known locally as Wellbank secured private investment and planning permission for 46 homes, a 40 bedroom hotel with spa and conference facilities and a business innovation area. This development, with Black Combe as a stunning backdrop will provide a unique opportunity for contemporary housing in the English Lake District.
2014 has been a busy year for Bootle; Wellbank has completed an extensive land remediation and demolition phase.
Bootle2020 was launched on the 21st June with exactly 2020 days until 2020 along with the launch we also celebrated the opening of Millstones, a centre for conservation and renewable energy as well as the HQ for Bootle2020!
Finally, the team expands! There are now two full time members of staff dedicated to the delivery of Bootle2020; based at Millstones; Trudy Harrison, programme leader and Sophie Entwisle programme assistant.
